A Modular or "Flip-up" motorcycle helmet is a hybrid between full-face and open-face motorcycle helmets. When fully assembled and closed, they resemble full face helmets by bearing a chin bar for absorbing face impacts.  It's chin bar may be pivoted upwards to allow access to most of the face, as in an open face motorcycle helmet.  The rider may then eat, drink, or have a conversation without removing the helmet.  The modular helmet may be worn in the "flip-up" position but offers the most protection in the down postion.
